Hunt In Pink Would Like You to Meet
Lady Hunter Spring, 2015
“When I’m not hunting I enjoy shooting my bow in Archery tournaments it keeps me in practice for hunting season.”
Why Do I Hunt?
Hunting is a part of life for me. It gave me a greater respect for the outdoors and has taught me so much. Secondly the challenge of taking a mature whitetail and the adrenaline rush you get from it. Most of all the peacefulness of being away from everyday stress.
How did it begin?
I didn’t start hunting until after I was married. My husband Leonard has always hunted, when our kids got a little older he got me going with him. The excitement got me wanting to give it a try and after I harvested my first doe I was hooked. Leonard didn’t know what he had gotten himself into after 20 years I still get as nervous and excited as I did the first time.
Lately hunters, especially women have come under fire for posting hunting pictures on Facebook, What’s your opinion?
It happened to me. I just ignored them, some people just don’t understand that hunting is one of the most humane ways for an animal to die it’s not cruel. I’m putting food on the table. I was taught not to take anything I wasn’t going to eat.
Do you cook wild game, what’s your favorite recipe?
I have several for Venison and Wild Turkey but one of my favorites for summer is grilled Wild Turkey Breast: take one side of the breast and filet it, marinade it in Zesty Italian dressing for 12 hrs. Cook on the grill until done.(Don’t over cook.) cut up into chunks, always cut across the grain. Serve with a salad or some roasted or grilled vegetables and rice.
